As you know, the majority of immigrants entering our country are in search of opportunities and freedoms unique to the United States.  While I recognize that many of these people are hard working individuals seeking a better life, I will not reward illegal behavior by providing amnesty to immigrants who have broken our nation's laws. During the 112th Congress I cosponsored legislation that would prevent the Administration from granting amnesty to illegal immigrants through executive action.  I also cosponsored legislation that would invalidate the Administration's Department of Homeland Security directive to enforce selective immigration laws already on the books. Securing our borders is a fundamental responsibility of the federal government and, as the immigration debate continues to heat up during the 113th Congress, you can rest assured that I will continue to support policies that protect both our nation's sovereignty as well as the interests of American taxpayers.
