On the one hand, in retrospect, I fear my research paper's comparison may potentially offend people (*not* my intention to insult or offend anybody) --on the other hand, if we don't learn from history, it may repeat itself --and in the worst kind of way. Since the oppressors are seeking new victims, and many people are oppressed and kept down (people of all colours), I am trying to help those who are oppressed by modern day indentured servitude aka a new kind of slavery -- I suspect (but don't know) that suicides among students is at least as high or higher than those among the Civil War era slaves. -- In any event, regardless of which group is "more" oppressed (this is not a contest), I hope that ALL oppressed people can work together --and not fight each other --as may be the case if minorities are offended or insulted by my comparison. --- Any thoughts on what I should do at this juncture? --- Three considerations come into play when I wonder what's my next step: 1) Students are oppressed by super dooper high tuition - they're important. 2) Minorities (particularly, Native peoples, Blacks, Hispanics, and Woman) have historically been oppressed (and to some extent, still are) 3) The Press Release cost me $120.oo plus a lots of time & effort --and I don't want it wasted. So, all three groups here are important, and none must be thrown out -- in any hasty decision on my next step. (That's why I have neither deleted nor advanced my Press Release -- it's sitting still awaiting my next move ONLY after I get thoughts & feedback from my neighbours & friends --whom I don't want to offend.)
