Dr. Ben Carson flip-flops on IMMIGRATION -but why? Trump’s plan better, but Carson’s plan is very good -and much less expensive!

UPDATE: Dr. Ben Carson flip-flopped (changed his views), but I’d like to know: Was this a genuine change of heart (based on new evidence, further thought), or, rather, a simple flip-flop. Or, maybe, was he misquoted? I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Original message appears below - and then the update.
I think that Donald J. Trump's plan is probably more effective than that of Dr. Ben Carson, but make no mistake: Both men would be successful in stopping illegal immigration, and both would get my vote in the general election - and Carson may end up being able to do the same thing as Trump but for less money (see bold face highlights below -- added for clarity - not in original quote) - observe: [[""Even Mitt Romney, whose immigration policy was the most famously conservative plank in his campaign, didn’t bother fantasizing about mass deportation. His plan was to encourage self-deportation by imposing penalties on employers stiff enough that they wouldn’t hire illegals in the first place. As the work dried up, people who’d crossed the border from Mexico would cross right back. Carson’s calling for something similar in the clip below to stop the influx of new illegals, saying, “You have to turn off the spigot that dispenses goodies, including employment. If there is nothing to come for, then people won’t come.” The difference between him and Romney is that he’s prepared to let illegals who are already here in the U.S. stay put in a guest-worker program — although, as it turns out, the GOP platform that was approved at the convention where Romney was formally nominated also called for a guest-worker program. Ted Cruz also wants a more robust guest-worker program, at least for skilled immigrants. And Trump himself — who knows? Catch him on the right day and he’ll tell you that once illegals have been made to leave the U.S., he’d support an “expedited” process that would let them come right back in again as legal workers. Quote: “We got to move ’em out, we’re going to move ’em back in if they’re really good people.” Is that materially better than Carson’s plan? Why spend a boatload of money to remove illegals en masse if most of them are going to come back in?""]] Source: "Video: Ben Carson knocks calls for mass deportation, proposes making illegals guest workers," posted at 11:21 am on September 9, 2015 by Allahpundit, Hotair.com: http://hotair.com/archives/2015/09/...
Also, see this quote, which supports the above claims:
Trump had called for creating a "deportation force" targeting illegal immigrants earlier Wednesday. "The people that are here, the 11.5 million people here, rounding them up and deporting them may sound good to some people," Carson said. "But it's not pragmatic."
"It also affects the farming industry, the hospitality industry. So, you know, we have to be pragmatic as a nation. There's no reason that they should have to live in the shadows," Carson said.
The famed neurosurgeon doubled down on comments made earlier Wednesday during a press availability in Lynchburg, Va., after his convocation speech at Liberty University, during which he argued that those illegal immigrants who have a "pristine record" should be able to stay in the U.S. as guest workers.
"If they have a pristine record, there's no reason they can't get registered, pay a back tax penalty and pay taxes going forward, and be able to remain here as guest workers," said Carson, who currently sits fourth in the Examiner's latest power rankings.
"If they want to become American citizens and they want to have voting rights, then they should have to do the same thing as anybody else," Carson said. "They shouldn't get extra advantage for having broken the law. That doesn't make any sense, and it offends the sense of justice of many Americans."”

PS: Both would win the general election - if the American people don't totally lose their mind.
UPDATE: Above, we see HotAir.com describes Dr. Carson as follows: “The difference between him [Carson] and Romney is that he’s prepared to let illegals who are already here in the U.S. stay put in a guest-worker program...” -- and The Washington Examiner says this: “[Dr. Ben Carson] argued that those illegal immigrants who have a "pristine record" should be able to stay in the U.S. as guest workers.” But below, a different stance is taken: Deportation, as Trump is trumpeting:
Quote: “A national guest-worker program makes sense and seems to work well in Canada. Noncitizens would have to apply for a guest-worker permit and have a guaranteed job awaiting them. Taxes would be paid at a rate commensurate with other U.S. workers and special visas would allow for easy entry and egress across borders. Guest-worker status would be granted to individuals and not to groups. People already here illegally could apply for guest-worker status from outside of the country. This means they would have to leave first. They should in no way be rewarded for having broken our laws, but if they are wise, they will arrange with their employer before they leave to immediately offer them a legal job as soon as their application is received. When they return, they still would not be U.S. citizens, but they would be legal, and they would be paying taxes. Only jobs that are vacant as a result of a lack of interest by American citizens should be eligible for the guest-worker program.”

What gives, Dr. Carson? Did you flip-flop or not? -- And, if so, why? Thanks,
