Dear Rep. Dennis A. Ross: I see you're on the Trump/Pence transition team.... hard job that!.. OK, I'll help out a little (right now) -- and more, perhaps, later if I have any new ideas -- I gave you 2 good ideas in my op-ed (which will be helpful to Mr. Trump, since he agrees with you on both tax-breaks and reduction of red-tape regulation, but overlooks the Bennett Hypothesis on elimination of subsidies, and the free-market checks against predatory lending, like bankruptcy & other standard consumer protections). -- OK, here's a reprise of my 2 prior ideas, for HigherEd, but with one KEY new idea to help Mr. Trump & his new Sec of Ed with a PublicEd controversy plaguing them... here goes nothing!... I like Betsy DeVoss, and maybe she has more free time to be serve, but honestly, I'm more qualified to be Sec. of Education: I know that -- you know that -- and I know that *you* know that. Nonetheless, I respect the decision-making of our Pres.-elect, and whether I can serve officially, or not, I still hope to help our leaders improve themselves & tweak our game-plan. While I give our leaders time to mull over the ***TWO*** (2) *HigherEd* legislative ideas in my OpEd, below (and thank you for not being mad at me for chewing you out! - You have great untapped potential, to lead, Rep. Dennis A. Ross), here's one idea to help DeVoss with her "voucher" plan - should she insist on trying to pull it off: Good idea, that *PublicEd* voucher plan, but seeing you have LIBERAL detractors, here's a ***THIRD*** (3rd) good solution to help you make American Great Again: Gordon's solution on how to address the (valid) concerns these Liberals raise: First, remind all liberal opponents of DeVoss, Trump, Pence, myself, & other right-wingers, that THEY benefit from Pell Grants for college, which follow the STUDENT (not the school), even if said student wants to go a (gasp!) private, religious college or university. They're fine with that, no?? Well, if said Liberals are 'ok' with this, then why not do the IDENTICAL thing in Public Ed, where said grants (we call them vouchers here, though) follow students (not schools) whether students go to public or private schools. If it works for colleges, why not do it with public ed. (There will be just as many jobs for teachers, and schools for students, whether said jobs and classrooms are private or public, and in the end, let me repeat: It works for higher-ed, so why not do it for public ed?) If my 3 novel ideas, above, save *millions* of Tax Dollar$, calms the (irrational) fears & (valid) concerns of liberals, and then achieves world peace, and can we split the difference in said 'millions'? :) * "A Polk Perspective: Fix our bankrupt policy on student debt," By Gordon Wayne Watts, Guest columnist, The Ledger, August 04, 2016: http://www.theledger.com/article/20160804/COLUMNISTS03/160809884/1382/edit?p=all&tc=pgall Gordon Wayne Watts, Lakeland, Fla., USA, earth///
